Jahn, or Bishmar Damsani (DLM June 2008) is the Featured ACIC Alumni for this week.
Currently pursuing his bachelor degree in the University of Sunderland, United Kingdom, Jahn always maintain his sunny-side-up attitude where ever he goes.

Under the Higher National Diploma (HND) programme in AlmaCrest, Jahn is doing his third year study in Sunderland and gratefully..still spend his time to answer this mini interview of his current life there.
Want to know how he is doing? Read with pleasure..and enjoy Jahn's pictures.

............................................................................................
Q: How was your study years at ACIC before?
Jahn:
ACIC gave me the encouragement, the lecturer taught so well. aside from that, I've learned how to become an independent in case of making an assignment, learned everything about the tourism management as well. experienced many activities, fieldtrip and also, ACIC impetus student to give or shared an idea to improve the acic mangement, activities and so on.

Q: One your best memories in ACIC before was...
Jahn:
actually i do have two best memories.
1st was, we won the dance competition during talentime that was conducted by INTI college. even though im not too expert and frankly speaking i dont know how to dance. but in the help of my crew, we won the competiton.
2nd was, The trip going to tambatuon homestead with mr val. that was an amazing trip. exploring and experinced the night life there, having a jungle trekking at a night.but as a conclusion, for the whole my diploma course study was my best memories and amazing. simple.

Q; Share a bit of your study n lifestyle now as a student in a foreign country.
Jahn:
I've been staying here in UK for 2 months already, the lifestyle here is very2 enjoyable, amazing and learned the europian cultures. everyday and every night, everywhere people's party. everywhere's pub, bar. but the people here is very2 friendly, helpful. im only one the muslim and maalaysian student in my flat. so i have to understand them and get involved with them. i just to have a bonding and wanted to become a good housemate to them. a lot of englisg accent here. very difficult to understand it. but i try my best to handle and manage it. hopefully. different pronounciation, fast, and a lot of new words that i've heard from them. so i have to take this challenge.
in my class, a lot of malaysian student. all of them are good in english. but my english worse than ever.hahaha. we just have 2 lectures subject in a week. even though we just have 2 subject on this sem, but the assignment that was given to us is extremely difficult. need to a read a lot of books, journals, and website that linked to my assignment's topic. no time for enjoy here. i've spent my whole day, infront of the books, and my laptop. have to put the exact and correct references. not like during acic, i just put some article on the website. but here, u have to put as long as 20 refences with the authors name, date published and everything. they will check it. so, i've be more independet here. less enjoyment and more on books and laptop.

Q: Any tips for those who wants to further their study over sea?
Jahn:
1. you must 100% committed with study. dont think the enjoyment here.

2. prepare yourself in a real world of study. take it serious when you are here. less the clubbing life and try to become a books lovers.

3. hardworking. i just want to tell you, when you are here, a lot of seduction here. girls, clubbing, gambling . you should more strong and try to avoid these.

Q: Why did you choose to continue your study oversea?
Jahn:
1st and for most, they give us a better education here in just a year. not wasting too much time as a degree level studies. and wanted to develop my communication skills, many job opportunities unless if you really diligent enough to find some job here. improved my english skills and lastly try to explore and experience the different and new lifestyle here.

Time to Look for a NEW Job: The 5 Signs

Have a job..
But something just doesn't feel right?
Maybe it's not the job that suit you.
or maybe..

Read the article..to know the truth.

..............................................................................................................................................................

When working with my career coaching clients about how to know when it's time to look for a new job, I always tell them that whatever they do they should not remain miserable.

We all have our ups and downs at work. Some weeks we're super-productive. Other weeks, not so much. But how do you know when it's time to really make a move -- updating your portfolio and beginning the official career search? Here are five signs that should point you in the right direction:

You dread getting out of bed in the morning.
Do you repeatedly hit the snooze button? Do you have an overwhelming desire to remain buried under the covers, far from demands, deadlines and clamoring coworkers? One of the biggest red flags of job dissatisfaction is an unwillingness to face the day -- not just some mornings, but every morning. What's your body trying to tell you?

Your work relationships and performance are beginning to suffer.
Remember when group projects were productive, water-cooler chat was a pleasant repose and happy hour truly was happy? If lately you find yourself avoiding certain people and tasks, slacking on your reviews or really dreading the annual company picnic, chances are you've lost that loving feeling for your job.

You become "someone else" at work.
If you feel like you can't be yourself at work and have become a "pretender," don't shrug it off -- and don't blame yourself. Every company's culture is different. Yours may not be aligned with who you are as a person. Know there are professional people out there who embrace the same goals and values as you do. Maybe it's time to seek them out.

The position doesn't make use of your talents. Perhaps you're an advertising executive who always wanted to be a chef. Perhaps your job title is "coordinator," but you feel more like the creative type. It's never too late to look in a new direction in terms of your career and future happiness.

You spend most of your time engaged in gossip sessions.
Sure, we all love to commiserate over frustrating aspects of our jobs. But if most of your hours at work are spent feeding negative thoughts and generally complaining, that's a huge sign it may be time to pack it in. Find a new career in an environment that feels more rewarding and in line with your talents. You can do it.

If you've done all you can to improve things, but your job still makes you miserable, do something about it. Take a few steps forward each week. Stay after work and compile your portfolio. Get that resume updated. Search the career websites to see what's out there. Take a few personality tests to help you identify your strengths.

When we feel unhappy or unsatisfied about things, it's safe to say it's time to find something out there that's better suited to us. Where do you want to go next? All the best for a rewarding and fulfilling career doing what you love!

So..do you have all the five signs?
Act now.
What can you do?
A lot.
Start by taking that decision.
ACIC..by the way, is always here to assist you.

June:
Wow...! extremely amazing guys.. i learn a lot of thing there. Acic just like my "kampung".. i can laugh, i can sit, sing, joke and of course outing. Lecturer's are all open minded and knows the student life. Where can you find such a good environment? Acic, teach you how to be independent, because when you out from there you'll be a lone ranger. Go to Acic, register and you will know what collage life can offer.

2. One of your sweetest memories in ACIC is .......

June:
Right.. sweet memories?? MICE event. I learn to talk, dance, drawing etc.. I miss that moment. But, one thing I remember until now.. I wrongly speak our CEO name..!! I was the MC that time. So, before you accept any duty from your group make sure you make revision especially on the basic thing.

3. Describe about your job now.

June:
My job is a Tour advisor cum Tourist guide.. I have to do itinerary, researching for a new product to offer for our foreigner, meet & greet with the guest, selling product, and a lot more. Bottom line is I'm a front liner for my company to deal with the tourist.

4. Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?

June:
I see myself in having my own Homestay and own company for more offering on cultural and community service.

5. Tips for all ACIC students who still studying now.

June:
Try out every single thing that you see in ACIC. Explore the best value of tourism industry and do your best in your exam and assignment, be adventurous, be active, don't shy to ask and learn. It will help you in the future. I'll see you guys around someday somehow. Good luck!

6. Describe yourself in three words.

June:
Attitude is everything.
