How To Be More Interesting (In 10 Simple Steps)

    1.Go exploring.
Explore ideas, places, and opinions. The inside of the echo chamber is where are all the boring people hang out.

    2. Share what you discover.
And be generous when you do. Not everybody went exploring with you. Let them live vicariously through your adventures.

     3. Do something. Anything.
Dance. Talk. Build. Network. Play. Help. Create. It doesn’t matter what you do, as long as you’re doing it. Sitting around and complaining is not an acceptable form of ‘something,’ in case you were wondering.

    4. Embrace your innate weirdness.
No one is normal. Everyone has quirks and insights unique to themselves. Don’t hide these things—they are what make you interesting.

    5. Have a cause.
If you don’t give a damn about anything, no one will give a damn about you.

     6. Minimize the swagger.
Egos get in the way of ideas. If your arrogance is more obvious than your expertise, you are someone other people avoid.

    7. Give it a shot.
Try it out. Play around with a new idea. Do something strange. If you never leave your comfort zone, you won’t grow.

    8. Hop off the bandwagon.
If everyone else is doing it, you’re already late to the party.  Do your own thing, and others will hop onto the spiffy wagon you built yourself. Besides, it’s more fun to drive than it is to get pulled around.

    9. Grow a pair.
Bravery is needed to have contrary opinions and to take unexpected paths. If you’re not courageous, you’re going to be hanging around the water cooler, talking about the guy who actually is.

    10. Ignore the scolds.
Boring is safe, and you will be told to behave yourself. The scolds could have, would have, should have. But they didn’t. And they resent you for your adventures.

    Featured ACIC Alumni: Emilsia Poinggis

    Emilsia (left) with her friends

ACIC Alumni welcomes the new year with its Featured Alumni column as the first entry for 2012. Who is it? It's none other than lovely lady, Emilsia Poinggis.
Taking her Diploma in Leisure Management in ACIC, Emilsia or fondly called Mell, knows that hard work pays. She is now currently attached with Growball Cinemax as an Assistant Supervisor.

Read on an interview with Mell.

Q: How was your study years at ACIC before?

Mell: fantastic + amazing...i enjoy the warm and cosy environment in Almacrest, all the activities(assignment & student council's activity),friendlike lecturers, and cool friends(local & international)

Q: Can you recall your best and worst memories as a student in ACIC?
    Mell:best memory = all the activities(beach party,prom night,camping in Kg.Tambatuon,mini banquet,and ect...)
worst memory = none, i think...

    Q: Describe your job now.
Mell: Assistant Supervisor = i do not want to consider my job as tedious since there is no easy job in this world, but my job is cool and $$$$$ hehehe...got 2 hours rest(sempat tidur lagi d hostel) and friendly subordinates...

Q: Do you think your years in ACIC has helped in your current work now?
    Mell: Yes.

Q: What are the qualities and characteristic needed be in the work position you are now?
Mell: dicipline and hardworking. friendly and approachable.

Q: Where do you see yourself five years from now?

    Mell: great career.(if i don’t mess up)

Q: One advice for those who are still searching for a job now.

Mell: i was once a close-minded person, i thought people who wore a smart and nice cloths, sit in front of computer is the one who got the highest salary and a perfect job, but i was wrong. i do not want to be arrogant, but my salary is better than some of my friend, eventhough i'm just in a t-shirt and walking around Growball, sometime became a cashier hehehe.. fresh grads tend to think that they have a diploma, so they should be a manager or at least a supervisor, but without experience, they are nothing. those who are still looking for a job should not be too choosy,it is ok if we start from the entry level, coz' thru' time+experiences,we can get a great job in the future.(in short, sabar ja la for 2-3 years huhuhuhu)
